Ernest Felton Baker

After being named the first and only U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts in Hip Hop Dance by the White House, Ernest was commissioned to perform at the Kennedy Center, Art Basel Miami, HBO’s A YoungArts MasterClass with Bill T. Jones, and was invited to YoungArts: In Process artist-in-residence program to create the 360 dance film, HOME. Most recently, Baker was commissioned as the creative consultant and choreographer for the Netflix series, Explained, “Dance Crazes'' episode, as well as choreographed Victoria Medina’s One Nation, One Mission, One Promise, the Off-Broadway play which debuted at the Players Theater in NYC. He also performed and choreographed short dance film Jonah, which won Best Short Film at Salamanca Moves Film Festival in Tasmania and was Officially Selected in numerous film festivals worldwide - including New Voices in Black Cinema at BAM, Dance On Camera at Lincoln Center, PanAfrican, Bucharest and Leeds International Film Festivals. With earning his MFA in Dance & New Media from NYU TISCH, Ernest also pursued teaching Hip Hop dance and interdisciplinary courses at Wesleyan University, and taught master classes at NYU TISCH Dance, Sarah Lawerence College, The Ailey School, Harlem School of the Arts, and Nkosi’s Haven through artsINSIDEOUT in Johannesburg.
