"Lab 1" is an experimental Hip Hop Dance Lab focusing on the relationship between region and style aesthetics in Hip Hop/Street Dance culture. The term "region" applies to geography, the body and the interpretation of the participant. This workshop is open to dance artists with a deep curiosity of Hip Hop/Street Dance technique. An intermediate/advanced level of dance experience is recommended. The two-hour workshop will begin with a focus on groove and technique, followed by an exploratory practice of how these elements fit into a Repertory process.
This public workshop will be curated by Nina Flagg (Cal Arts Hip Hop Dance Faculty). It is open to participants and observers. Please be advised that mature language and subject matter will be addressed during the workshop.
